Waste Clearance Bristol – The Fly Tipping Epidemic
Bristol’s Problem with fly tipping seems top be at an all time high. With Local recycling centres getting tougher on the amount of waste brought in and the cost for recycling increasing, It’s no wonder we’re all seeing many more instances of fly tipping.
Bristol Council is now cracking down and fly-tippers caught in Bristol could now face fines up to £50,000 as the council is determined to clean up our streets. This surely should change the attitude for waste clearance in Bristol.
The new measures are run by Bristol Waste and Bristol City neighbourhood enforcement. The team have installed many hidden cameras in high risk areas across the city in a bid to catch illegal dumpers in the act.
The council are particularly worried about hazardous waste such as asbestos contaminating our public highways and causing risk to the general public. The waste is also starting to obstruct public right of ways and cause a nuisance to many local residence.
The authority say those caught dumping waste on camera will be prosecuted and will face a fine of up to £50,000.
